Life Renewal is governed by a Board of Directors, all professing members of Reformed churches within NAPARC (North-American Presbyterian and Reformed Council). The program adheres to Reformed faith summarized in the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism and the Canons of Dort.
We seek to come alongside Reformed and Presbyterian Churches in Canada to provide and promote a sound, Biblical support program for its members and their communities. We train local coordinators and facilitators to equip them with the skills to lead their groups of participants through healing and create a safe and confidential environment.
In each of our lives the drama of sin and suffering plays itself out. From the perspective of creation, the fall into sin and redemption, we know that everyone needs help.
We are created with a need for truth outside of ourselves to live life properly. The book of Proverbs reminds us we need true wisdom. Our own thinking often conditions our emotions, our sense of identity, how we view others or solve our problems. And there are many other interpretive voices too, competing with God’s Word: our friends’ and family’s opinions and expectations, books, TV shows and social media, not to mention our own deceitful hearts. (Jeremiah 17:9)
While the power of sin has been broken by our Lord Jesus Christ, the blinding presence of sin remains. Therefore, we need to live in a humble, honest community as redeemed saints around God’s word.
“God uses people, who are themselves in need of change, as instruments of the same kind of change in others”. – Paul Tripp in Instruments in the Redeemers Hands. (2002, P&R Publishing Company).
Life Renewal does not replace professional counselling or the care and oversight of office bearers. However, we firmly believe that within the Christian Church ‘we rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep’ (Rom. 12:15). We “confess our sins to one another, and pray for each other, that we may be healed” (James 5:16). And “As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility and gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against each other” Colossians 3:12-13. And finally, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your heart to God” (vs.16).
Thank you for checking out our website! You might have brothers and sisters in your congregation participating in the program and would like to know more. Life Renewal is not in any way meant to replace pastoral care in our churches, but set up as a Biblical support program that offers strategies to deal with real issues such as broken relationships, sexual woundedness and abuse, depression, anger, fear and various forms of addiction, including pornography. Beneath these “symptoms” is most likely a wounded and empty heart, looking for spiritual help and hope.
We encourage you to pray for your brothers and sisters involved in Life Renewal, get connected with your local location and ask what topics are being covered that week in the program. The journey can be painful as the Holy Spirit reveals areas that need change. Each of us walks an intensive journey including, examination of character weaknesses, past sins and hurts, forgiveness and amends, ultimately leading to a more authentic life in Christ.
We would love to hear from you, if you have any questions.
